Feed!
This article in the NY Times made me think we're closer to Feed than ever before.

I think what struck me the most was the idea of scanning one's hamburger wrapper!

[info]katebookgirl and I have been having an ongoing email conversation about transmedia storytelling (the link goes to a blog post about it by Henry Jenkins): the idea is that some fictional stories are now being told across multiple media (film, TV, printed books, web...hamburger wrappers?), and that to know the entire story, you'd have to look at material in more than one medium. (K. cited this example where, to get information about a character in the TV show The Office, a viewer would have to go online and read it on the web.) I see this cell phone (cellphone? one word or two?) thing as sort of a mix of Feed and transmedia storytelling....
